Services
I set you up for success by treating what I'm good at and leaving the rest to the other experts (I'll happily refer you!). I mostly work with kids but have limited offerings for adults as well.
What I DON'T treat:
- Feeding Disorders
- Swallowing disorders
- Fluency Disorders
- Anyone Deaf or Hard of Hearing -- you deserve specialized services that I can't provide
- School-age kids
- Kids at daycare centers/schools
Questions?
Kids (ages 0-5)

At-Risk Babies/Toddlers
The following are risk factors and warrant a comprehensive speech-language evaluation:
-
Genetic syndrome/disease
-
Family history of speech therapy
-
Prenatal and/or birth complications
-
Infant feeding issues
-
Infant breathing issues

Kids Who Don't Talk
Speech therapy is great for toddlers and preschoolers who:
-
Cry/scream/tantrum when
-
Use gestures without words
-
Don't point
-
Lead you by the hand instead of telling/pointing to what they want
-
Use fewer than 50 words by age 2

Babies/Toddlers in PT/OT
Speech is both a motor skill (ie it requires muscle coordination, strength) and a cognitive skill (ie it requires thinking, problem solving, etc). Children who receive therapy in one area benefit from other therapy specializations because combined they address the whole skill system (motor, cognition, etc). Contact for questions/evaluation.

Kids You Can't Understand
Your child talks a lot (or not) but you can't understand anything. Or, to be precise: you understand <50% of what your 2 yr old is telling you. It might be part of language development or it might be a speech sound disorder. A speech-language evaluation will tell us what's going on and give a direction for treatment.
Adults
I mostly work with kids but here's what I can do for adults

Accent Modification
I know the frustration of learning a language and not being understood because of a mispronounced sound or a wrongly emphasized syllable. Accent is a beautiful feature of your your communication. But if it's getting in the way of effective communication, or it's affecting your confidence, then let's do something about it.

AAC for Degenerative Diseases
My aunt died of ALS. I learned one of the best things you can do for a person's dignity is give them a way to communicate, and give y'all a way to stay connected. AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) covers everything from pictures on the wall to communication apps to eye tracking devices. Communication changes with the progress of the disease and I can help you the family and you the patient communicate effectively.

Caregiver Coaching
For parents, grandparents, daycare professionals, teachers, and anyone who wants support communicating with children. You don't need a child to work with me! We'll set up your classroom or home as a language-rich and communication-facilitating environment, and give you strategies for kids who struggle with communication. I can help you connect with any of the kids in your care and support their own communication skills.
